Rainbow Six Siege’s Latest Anti Cheat Measures & Changes

With a tumultuous gaming experience ever since Rainbow Six Siege hit the Y9S2 mark, cheaters in the game are more prevalent than ever. But the fight isn’t over just yet as Rainbow Six Siege devs have released their latest ‘Player Protection Update’ hoping to curb cheater activity to regain balance to the game.

In competitive games like Rainbow Six Siege, cheaters have been and always will be an incredibly persistent and troublesome bunch. But with multiple new strategies on the way, the dev R6 team is looking to take the fight to the end with both proactive and reactive measures coming into place.

Today, we’re checking out the new Rainbow Six Siege Player Protection Update and breaking down how exactly the new measures will work and what this means for honest players.

The New Anti-Cheat Philosophy – Proactive & Reactive Measures

With the new Player Protection Update looking to counter cheat makers, Rainbow Six Siege devs are implementing and updating both their Proactive and Reactive protection measures.

Proactive Measures look to curb the cheat makers in the long run by destabilizing and impacting cheat makers before the cheats can be implemented while Reactive Measures will impact cheat makers and users this season.

And if you need a little help with some pro R6 boosting or coaching services to dominate the game, even against R6 cheaters, U7BUY has got you covered.

Proactive Protections: Encryption – Binary Hardening

Since Y9S1 of Rainbow Six Siege, the devs have been hard at work updating the game’s code base with hardening techniques & encryption to upgrade security. While these measures can impact cheaters in the present, this plan is geared toward the future by making it harder to develop and implement cheats at the creation stage.

Binary hardening also has the potential to disrupt cheat makers by making cheats unstable with every season update, patch, and hotfix.

However, the dev team also noticed the reason for Rainbow Six Siege Y9S2’s uptick in cheats as certain cheats were able to bypass and get back online faster than anticipated. This is also coupled with a surge in cheater reports as players were matched in R6 games with cheaters more often.

For now, while Binary Hardening aims to make it harder for cheats to get online and developed in the first place, it’s clearly not enough to counter the seemingly efficient hackers getting over their hurdles. However, the dev Rainbow Six Siege team is optimistic have promised to keep investing in hardening for the future while pairing it with other anti-cheat measures.

Reactive Protections: QB System Expansion

In 2022, the Rainbow Six Siege dev team implemented the ‘QB System’ as their ‘bespoke’ security system with great success. But as cheats were constantly updated, they were able to bypass the QB System and inject themselves into the game.

As a result, the QB System requires constant R6 updates which the dev team is focusing on, but is clearly falling short at the moment.

However, with a new Anti-Cheat team in place, they’ve now announced that the Rainbow Six Siege team is working on an ‘Expansion’ to the QB System which is set to be a “game changer for the disruption of cheat makers”.

They can’t get into the specifics just yet, but we’re eager to see how the QB System Expansion implementation takes things to the next level, undoing the ‘increase in cheating’ players have come across in this current season.

Additionally, the dev team mentions that the ‘MouseTrap’ which was originally released back in Y8S1 and had great success at launch has been bypassed by some Rainbow Six Siege cheaters.

They’ve mentioned they’re working to improve ‘detection capabilities’ with timely R6 updates and are working towards being able to detect ‘more device types’ with higher accuracy.

Match Cancellation 3.0 System & Updated Ban Numbers

To ease the player experience in the game, in the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Y9S4 update, the dev team will implement the new Match Cancellation 3.0 measure. The new ‘Cheater Match Cancellation’ feature will now function as a method for honest players to avoid unfair R6 matches.

Once a cheater has been confirmed to be present in the match (and banned), the match will automatically cancel so you don’t have to waste time in a round that’s clearly not going anywhere.

This should make players spend less time wasting away in a match with R6 cheaters, and hopefully provide less incentive to even try cheating in the first place. A ban can immediately revoke access to the Rainbow Six Siege match for the cheater, while other players are less impacted by cheats.

In addition, we’ve also got some new numbers with the latest R6 updates to ban numbers for May – June in R6S. Check the graph below for more details:

Anti-Toxicity Measures

Besides the slew of anti-cheat updates we’ve seen in the latest Player Protection Update, we’re also receiving a few updates regarding ‘Anti-Toxicity’ in Rainbow Six Seige. Besides cheating, the toxic culture of R6S players is another problem to address.

As such, the dev Rainbow Six Siege team has refocused their efforts on protecting “all players from experiencing toxicity in-game” but aims to create a balance and understanding of how to measure toxicity that “makes sense”. This includes new changes to the report system that aims to be ‘as accurate’ as it can be and tweaking the ‘Reputation System’ to align with existing Anti-Toxicity measures. Expect a slew of R6 updates to the Reputation System in the coming updates to be more transparent and understandable.
