While Garena Undawn doesn’t have as many players as it once did, the game is still thriving. However, the company is still offering regular feature-packed updates, and the updates that came in May 2024 were awesome. We’ll take a look at them here.

New Map – Stygian City
It’s always a joy when a new map gets added to Garena Undawn, and Stygian City is one of the best yet. It has three floors, with both an above-ground and underground section. It is a very dark, forbidding city. It is packed with resources, but as the last major settlement in the game world, people are really competitive for those resources. As you wander through the map, you can’t help but feel that you’re being watched all the time. It is a great map to play through, and we hope to see plenty more city-like maps from Garena Undawn.
New Game Mode – Stygian Restricted Area
This is a brand new game mode where you’re put inside the Stygian City restricted area. Here, you’ll be competing with other survivors for resources. You won’t have any when you start playing this game mode (everything is set to 0), and if somebody kills you, you’ll lose everything that you own. Your goal? Get to the evacuation point quickly. If you can get to the evacuation point without dying, or the timer expiring, then you’ll get to keep everything that you found in the Stygian Restricted Area for use in other parts of the game and, trust us, you’re going to want all the rare resources that you find around here.
Streets of Darkness
One of the great things about Garena Undawn is that it has opted to be a very story-focused game. While the story isn’t always brilliant, it works. It is certainly better than the story you’ll find in other mobile games. Here, you’ll be doing battle against the Queen of the Dark. We don’t want to dive too much into the story here, because we know that it is something that many of you want to experience yourself. However, rest assured, you’ll always be wondering what happens next. It may also be one of the best stories that we’ve played in Garena Undawn, but we know that some of you will be saying ‘that doesn’t mean much since the stories are rarely that good’.
Gathering Drone
This is one of the best new additions to the game with this patch. You can now purchase a gathering drone that will help you to gather resources quickly. In fact, the gathering drone will gather the resources automatically. You’re going to want to use this a lot as you’re going through Stygian City.
Outfit Exchange Store
The outfit exchange store is a great way to pick up some old outfits that you might have missed. There is a revolving selection of cosmetics in the store. You can only buy them using Redemption Coupons, which the game gives out for free. At the end of May, you could have received 100 free Redemption Coupons by logging in every day for 5 days. While that offer has now expired, we have no doubt that it is something that the Garena Undawn team will be bringing back every so often.
Optimizations to the Game
Obviously, there’s also now been a few optimizations to the game too. For example, all details about your PVP will now be added to your character’s page. This means that not only can you see how great you are at the game, you can also see everybody else’s stats too.
You can also change your Mechanoid’s stats and skins however you wish.
On top of this, you get RC when you level beyond 110, and the daily rewards have been given a little bit of a boost too.
Training Mode
We’ve even got a new training match mode. The explosive mode will have one team planting bombs, and the other defusing. It is 2 rounds, and you switch sides at the end. Fun!
Special Ops
This is in the game, but it has yet to fully launch. The Special Ops will take you into a Sewage Treatment Plant where you’ll be doing battle against the Stygian City gangs. Expect to see lots of mutated mobs down here. We don’t quite know how it is going to pan out right now, but if it is like every other Special Ops, it’ll be fun with some great rewards.
