Things are heating up in Honkai Star Rail with the upcoming banners coming in hot, adding more versatility and viability to a variety of team builds in the game. Yeah, we’re done with you, DOT-focused teams & Kafka (not really).

We know who’s coming up in the next few limited-time banners, but it can be confusing to know the best HSR character to elevate your Honkai Star Rail teams to the next level. Unfortunately, depending on your existing roster, not every Honkai Star Rail character in the next banner is going to be for you.

So today, we’re breaking down each banner in Honkai Star Rail 2.2 along with the limited 5-star character’s known abilities and kits to determine the very best of the best characters in Honkai Star Rail for you.

First Half of Honkai Star Rail Ver 2.2

Robin

The current running banner’s featured limited HSR 5-star character is Robin, Penacony’s cosmic idol. But as a drastic contrast to her demeanor and aesthetic, Robin is a clear beast, unsurprisingly ranking as one of the top Harmony characters in the game.

Robin focuses on buffing your entire team with DMG, ATK, and Crit Damage buffs alongside a 100% action advance with her ult. In short, she is a highly potent buffer that pairs well with most DPS characters and especially with follow-up attackers like Topaz, Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, etc. thanks to her Traces.

If you missed out on Ruan Mei or don’t have Bronya, Robin’s a fantastic addition to most player’s rosters. She also pairs well with DOT teams alongside Kafka and Black Swan in case you’re missing a dependable buffer.

Topaz

Alongside Robin, we also have a Topaz re-run and if you’ve been playing the game religiously for the past few months, you’ll know that Topaz is a fantastic addition for follow-up attack teams and pairs incredibly well with Robin too.

Topaz is a ‘Hunt’ character that specializes in single-target damage with her dependable partner, Numby. In fact, most of your damage centers around Numby dishing out follow-up attacks.

She also applies the ‘Proof of Debt’ debuff with her skill, so she pairs well with HSR characters that require debuffs like Dr Ratio who is an excellent partner for FUA teams. She performs incredibly well in Memory of Chaos so if you’re after a Fire-type damage dealer or just a new DPS to build, she’s a great option.

4-Star HSR Character Banners

  • March 7th – A dependable shielder & sustain unit, great for handling waves of Ice-weak enemies, but overshadowed by more powerful Preservation/Abundance characters.
  • Hanya – A solid Harmony character for SP management/regen and both single/team-wide buffs, solid Toughness damage, sorely lacking otherwise. Other Honkai Star Rail characters simply do it better.
  • Xueyi – Mid-range Quantum damage dealer, solid for many bosses thanks to Toughness damage reducing ult regardless of element weakness types, but lacking in overall damage potential compared to other HSR characters.

Second Half of Honkai Star Rail Ver 2.2

Boothill

In the second half of the Honkai Star Rail 2.2 update, we’ll see a HSR new character gracing the game, Boothill, the flamboyant Galaxy Ranger. We don’t know much about his capabilities or how he’ll fit into the current meta, so it’s hard to say.

But based off early previews we can get a sense of what to expect here.

Essentially, Boothill is a 1v1 personified and has a risky taunt Skill that increases damage dealt and received against one targeted enemy. He also has two basic attacks, one standard and one enhanced when using his skill.

His ultimate is great too, applying Physical weakness to a single-target enemy while delaying their turn. These aspects are subject to change but for now, Boothill is sure to revitalize the lacking ‘Hunt’ archetype as a phenomenal single-target Physical DPS.

Fu Xuan

Alongside Boothill we’ll see the return of the Preservation Queen, Fu Xuan who was previously the most viable sustain Honkai Star Rail character you could have in the game. While Aventurine has snatched the throne, Fu Xuan is still a phenomenal character to have.

Fu Xuan is a bit of a misnomer in the Preservation archetype in the sense that she doesn’t give your team ‘shields’. Rather, she takes any incoming damage from teammates to herself.

Simultaneously, she also buffs your team’s Max HP and Crit Rate. She also has a bunch of other buffs including damage reduction, crowd control effect resists, and a self and team-wide heal. In short (hah, cos she’s short xD), an incredibly useful and powerful addition to any roster.

Fu Xuan is a powerful sustain HSR character that can handle high levels of MOC and Pure Fiction, not only keeping your units alive but buffing them as well. She’s also a staple in mono-quantum teams, so if you need someone to pair with Seele, Silverwolf, or the upcoming Erudition character, Jade, she’s a must-pull.

4-Star Honkai Star Rail Character Banners

  • Pela – One of the best 4-star character debuffers in the entire game, on par with some limited 5-star characters. Powerful Def-shred capabilities, and a reliable Ice-type breaker to boot.
  • Luka – Great Physical type debuffer and DOT damage dealer. Not the best in terms of overall viability, but it’s still a solid option for the right teams.
  • Hook – One of the most underutilized Destruction characters in the game. Not the best, not the worst, and many outperform her in terms of damage and versatility but if you’re missing out on a Fire-type damage dealer, she’ll do just fine.

And that’s everything you need to know about upcoming Honkai Star Rail banners 2.2. But if you missed out on any HSR characters from past banners or don’t win your 50-50 with Robin or Topaz, or any other upcoming 5-star limited Honkai Star Rail characters, check out U7BUY to find Honkai Star Rail starter account with any character you need!
